Leicestershire NEU represents a large number of schools across Leicestershire. The majority of those schools are academies, these are schools which are funded via government funding, but has independent school governances.

Academies normally group together into Multi-Academy trusts (or MATs). When academies join a MAT, each individual school stops existing as a separate legal entity. This makes it impossible for schools to leave a MAT. If a MAT is considered to be failing its pupils, they can be shut down by the government and the schools are folded into another trust.

NEU has elected staff representatives at both at school level (normally called Workplace representatives) and at trust level, these are often called Lead Representatives.

Below is a list of trusts in Leicestershire, with the names of their representatives. If you are interested in becoming a representative, or be coming a lead representative, please get in touch (email sam.hilton@neu.org.uk)
